Leisure Group Days

Our Leisure group days are for young adults aged 19 to 25 years.

These generally run two days a week in term time, typically a Thursday and Friday.

Activities are centred around developing skills in the community and we provide structured support and visual information for each activity and young person.

The activities vary each term.Regular activities include a gym session at the local leisure centre, a British gymnastics disability session at Basingstoke, a singing group within The Town Hall in Newbury, library visits to develop reading for pleasure, bowling, walks and lunches out at local pubs and cafes.

We also go shopping, enjoy art and crafts and have days trips.

The activities are mainly in Newbury, Berkshire and Basingstoke in Hampshire.

Super Saturdays

Beyond run a fun monthly group within The Town Hall in Newbury, Berkshire from 10am to 3pm to develop social skills, independence and self-esteem and enable young people to fully participate in their choice making. This is for young people with ASC aged from 15 years plus.

The group provides opportunities for individuals to interact with similar peers and enjoy themed days based around their interests and ideas.

Favourite Super Saturday sessions have included ‘Yogatastic’- a yoga and relaxation day, ‘Move n Groove’ - a fun exercise and dance session, ‘Moviemania’- a relaxed cinema experience with Fish and chip lunch and a ‘Karaoke Crazy’ singing extravaganza! Other themed days for the year include: ‘Pizzamania’: a hands-on baking experience to create their favourite pizzas and a ‘Just Dance’ day so they can have fun, get fit and challenge themselves with our Nintendo Switch Just Dance game.

Each session is led by a qualified teacher experienced in working with young people with ASC. We implement visual support strategies such as adapted recipes, games cards, dance routines and user friendly I.T information boards. The group are all involved in evaluating the activities and putting forward their ideas for future Super Saturdays.

Leisure Club Plus (non-term time/school holidays)

Leisure Club Plus is for young people with ASC aged from 15 to 25 years and it runs on specific days in the holidays / non -term time. These dates are advertised throughout the year.

The sessions are based within The Town Hall in Newbury, Berkshire or at the village hall in Woolton Hill near Newbury, Berkshire depending on the activities. On occasions we have also used New Era Theatre at Wash Common, near Newbury, Berkshire.

We aim to develop skills, share interests, build confidence and self-esteem through fun, engaging activities with similar peers.

We have enjoyed themed days including Bake and create, Sweets and Treats and Pasta Crazy baking days, Pot and Plant gardening activities, Dancercise, Disney Games Bonanza, Festive arts and crafts, and a storytelling and drama workshop.

Group size is variable but usually between 5 and 10 young people.
